He is the Light
Hello everyone!! And Merry Christmas!!
Last night was Christmas Eve, and it was so so special! We went to stay with 3 other Sisters in the mission, and my companion Sister Nam planned an amazing devotional for us. She hid lanterns around the house and then turned off all of the lights. We all searched for the lanterns, and once one person found one, they lit the way for the others. We kept going and working together until all 5 lanterns were found. Afterward, she then explained that the first lantern represented Jesus Christ. The second was the prophet, the third was apostles, the fourth was pioneers, and the fifth was us. I LOVED this analogy. I love the way that each person builds on the light of Jesus Christ. He really is the light! And He is the first light. This helped me remember that there is so much good in the world, but it only is possible because of Jesus Christ.
As you search for the source of good in your life this season, search for the primary source! Don't stop at the secondary sources. While family, service, giving, and worshiping are all good things. Don't forget to make Jesus Christ the center of them. Remember that the most important thing is our relationship with Jesus Christ! Make sure to spend one-on-one time with Him, and encourage others to do the same. I promise that as you do this, your happiness and purpose in life will grow. You will find joy in so many more aspects of your life.
I know that Jesus Christ loves YOU! He knows you by name. He knows you better than you know yourself. Everything He does is to benefit you and help you find true happiness. Please don't turn away from His loving arms. They are always, always open.
I love you all! You really are my eternal family, and I can't wait to be together forever!
Love, Sister South
