Diligence
Hello everyone! This week was SO amazing! Nothing prepared me for how fast the rollercoaster of emotions as a missionary changes!
Here is a rundown of what happened this week:
- We were in Chiang Mai for about a week! It's about 7 hours north from where I am serving. This mission has made me LOVE traveling and road trips, because we go on one almost every other week.
- We had a social media training day, where we learned how to better support our Facebook page.
- It's been SO hot here. Even the dog that used to chase us every day is too tired from the heat, haha!
- Dream got her mission call!! She is going to the Thailand Bangkok East mission!
- We took a sleeper train to Chiang Mai. It was supposed to leave at 11:30pm, but it was late, so we sat at the train station until we left at 2am. But all is well because we taught the security guard how to play Uno.
- We had Zone Conference with two zones (1/2 of the mission), and it was so, so amazing! I miss everyone sooooo much!
- Cooked burgers together and played spikeball and soccer. It was the perfect family reunion that I needed.
- Had a chicken catching race. (Elder Namtam cooked the chickens after...)
- Had a week-long sleepover with 6 other sisters!! A couple of them don't speak English, so we mostly spoke in Thai. It's no wonder Thai people are so funny, because everything in Thai is just better lol.
- Fire quote from Sister Orrego: "Sometimes you plant seeds, and sometimes you harvest. But I do be weeding the garden!" (#keeping PMG cleeeeean)
- Met someone who served with my grandparents in England! They gave me bucket bread.
- Interviews with President and Sister Rich solved all of my problems.
- Played Uno with น้องเจ้า! Thai people LOVE Uno!
- Absolutely DESTROYED our finding goal, so we buzzed the ZLs' heads.
- Ate Froyo!! I miss Froyo!
- A ton of Thai ladies taught me how to make spring rolls.
- I met Brother Bop.
This transfer, we have been studying all of the Christ-like attributes as a mission, and recently, about diligence. One thing I learned from zone conference was that a diligent person doesn't rely on mood. They rely on habit. This is something I really admire about my dad. While I am pretty sure my dad is just always in the mood to work haha, he's definitely built some good habits that help him to always be on the Lord's errand. Habits are something that are really prioritized as a missionary. Diligence is not something that we can wake up and just decide to have. But keeping important habits set through personal revelation is one way we can access the Lord's power. I promise that as we do our best, the Lord will bless us with this attribute. No matter where you are, just having a DESIRE is a good start!
I love you all! Have a great week!
- Sister South
